Fire & Ice – A Perfect Metaphor for Closing 2010, Opening 2011

As Katy Perry so eloquently puts it, this past year has been very ‘Hot and Cold’.  Now she might be referring to a man who can’t commit, but I can’t help but make the same connection to the local business landscape.  Let me give you an example:

Formation of YPG Ventura=Hot
Sagging Economy=Cold

I’m sure you can think of plenty more examples of what a hot and cold year this has been.  We’ve all had months where you could sell ice to an Eskimo, followed by the months you couldn’t close a window.

As we close the door on 2010 and begin a new year, we at YPG found this dichotomy inspiring enough to have it be the theme of our next Mixinarty coming up January 21, 2010 at City Hall.

So, come ready to sweat out the past and chill out with your fellow young professionals on what promises to be a very memorable evening.

Mixinarty Huge Success

The Museum of Ventura County, the backdrop to the inaugural Mixinarty, was lit up with excitement Friday September 10th.  As the evening began the plaza was alive with people shaking hands, exchanging war stories, and enjoying cocktails from Zoey’s Cafe and tasting Tequila Alqumia and Ventura Limoncello.

Our keynote speaker Sam Hishmeh, of Hishmeh Enterprises, inspired the attendees speaking out what he has learned from his many years in the pizza business.

It was then that the party took off – tasty tacos from Jonathan’s began to float around and Mini Driver kept the party going with a dance inspiring set of cover tunes.  The raffle was also a huge hit with many local business donating some amazing prizes.

A big thanks again to all of our sponsors for the event, without them, well you know.

Our next event will be announced soon, so stay tuned.

Overall it was an amazing evening and we couldn’t have pictured a better way to kick off this group of young professionals.
